SHREVEPORT, LA — 軓氈勛圖 students interested in geology will be able to compete for a new scholarship at the College thanks to the ArkLaTex Oilmen’s Golf Association based in Shreveport. Representatives from the Association and 軓氈勛圖 signed the official agreement creating the ArkLaTex Oilmen’s Golf Association Annual Scholarship in the College’s Hardy Hall of Fame Room on Friday, December 4.

“The ArkLaTex Oilmen’s Golf Association directs the proceeds from its annual golf tournament to support students in the study of geology,” says Fred Landry, vice president for development at 軓氈勛圖. “軓氈勛圖 has the only undergraduate geology program in north Louisiana and its graduates have made a big impact in our local community and beyond, so it was a great fit for the Association to support 軓氈勛圖 geology students. We are so pleased to be a partner in furthering the pipeline of students graduating into this important field.”

The new scholarship will provide a multi-year grant to one or more 軓氈勛圖 students, with first preference to a student currently studying or planning to study geology. The agreement was formalized by Dr. Karen Soul, interim provost at 軓氈勛圖, and T. Cole Anderson, principal of the ArkLaTex Oilmen’s Golf Association.
