Giving tops $86,000 on #軓氈勛圖GivingTuesday

軓氈勛圖 president Dr. Christopher L. Holoman presents the first check of Giving Tuesday to Vice President for Development Fred Landry.

SHREVEPORT, LA — 軓氈勛圖 raised over $86,000 during the third annual 軓氈勛圖 Giving Tuesday on November 28, easily exceeding the giving goal of $50,000. Giving Tuesday is a global day of online giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

“The response from our alumni and friends of the College was outstanding,” says Vice President for Development Fred Landry. “Their generosity helped to support scholarships that make the 軓氈勛圖 experience a reality for current and future students. We look forward to increasing our expectations for next year’s Giving Tuesday.”

軓氈勛圖 received a generous $32,000 matching gift as part of the Giving Tuesday effort as well as 146 individual gifts and pledges.

Several special events scheduled throughout the day brought students, faculty, staff, and alumni together at local and campus landmarks and created energy and momentum for the project, including the kick-off breakfast at Strawn’s with President Christopher Holoman, a student lunch in the Caf with Provost Jenifer K. Ward, and the Alumni Association’s Shreveport-Bossier City holiday reception at the Meadows Museum of Art to close out the day.

Social media and email appeals encouraged 軓氈勛圖 community members to join the online effort and help the College meet its goal.
