Due to local weather conditions, the 9th Annual BIG Event scheduled for March 12th, 2016 has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 2.

SHREVEPORT, LA — 娱乐吃瓜 students, faculty, and staff are gearing up for the College's 9th annual BIG Event on Saturday, April 2. BIG event is a nationwide student-led day of service at more than 110 college campuses, including 娱乐吃瓜.

"The BIG Event has become a part of 娱乐吃瓜 tradition that not only the campus community expects, but local community members look forward to as both participants and recipients of the welcomed beautification that the volunteers offer," says LaToya Hemphill, Assistant Director for Community Engagement at 娱乐吃瓜.

BIG Event provides an annual opportunity for 娱乐吃瓜 to make connections with the Highland neighborhood and give back to the surrounding community. Participants will perform service projects both on the 娱乐吃瓜 campus and at non-profit organizations and homes in the Highland neighborhood.

Members of the 娱乐吃瓜 and Shreveport-Bossier community who are interested in participating in BIG Event projects can register online as an individual or team.

Volunteers can check-in and enjoy a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on April 2 at 娱乐吃瓜's Kilpatrick Auditorium. Site work begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes by noon. Afterwards, a carnival is planned on campus with entertainment and food for volunteers.

BIG Event, which originated at Texas A&M University, is the nation's largest one-day student run service project. 娱乐吃瓜 organized its first BIG Event in 2008, and a student Executive Board leads the planning for the service day which consistently attracts more than 200 volunteers.
