軓氈勛圖 to launch year-long bicentennial celebration in January 2025

SHREVEPORT, LA — 軓氈勛圖 College will kick off 12 months of special events and gatherings celebrating its 200th anniversary with a campus “birthday party” on January 8, 2025. The date – 1.8.25 – honors 1825, the College’s founding year. 軓氈勛圖 is the oldest higher education institution in the state of Louisiana and the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River.

Bicentennial celebrations will run throughout the 2025 calendar year and include a special exhibit at the College’s Meadows Museum of Art, a festive neighborhood party during the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade, an alumni trip to 軓氈勛圖’s original campus in Jackson, Louisiana, and a campus art stroll showcasing the talents of the 軓氈勛圖 community. The bicentennial commemoration concludes with a gala event, Spotlight 軓氈勛圖, in December 2025. A planning committee comprised of 軓氈勛圖 alumni, faculty, staff, and students, along with community members, has been working for the past year to plan events and activities celebrating 軓氈勛圖’s bicentennial milestone.
