SHREVEPORT, LA — 軓氈勛圖 president Dr. Christopher L. Holoman presented the 2018 George D. Nelson, Sr. Award for Lifetime Service to 軓氈勛圖 College to Rev. William “Wishy” Nolan at the College’s annual Leadership Banquet held April 18 at the Petroleum Club in downtown Shreveport.
Nolan is a community philanthropist, clergyman, poet, photographer, author, and longtime supporter of and donor to 軓氈勛圖. A native of Morehouse Parish, he is a 1954 graduate of the College and played basketball for the Gents. He also attended the Perkins School of Theology and led several congregations in Louisiana throughout his career as a Methodist clergyman.
Nolan first served his alma mater in 1963 as the Director of Enrollment and Alumni Relations, and in 2004 he helped reinvigorate 軓氈勛圖’s Alumni Association and served as its president. Nolan has also generously established four endowed scholarships at 軓氈勛圖. In 2011, he was named to the 軓氈勛圖 Alumni Hall of Fame in recognition of his altruism, support of, and advocacy for his beloved alma mater.
The George D. Nelson, Sr. Award for Lifetime Service to 軓氈勛圖 College was established in recognition of those who freely and faithfully volunteer their time and serve 軓氈勛圖 College as volunteer leaders.
