軓氈勛圖 College students will have new pathway to University of Louisiana Monroe pharmacy degree
SHREVEPORT, LA — A memorandum of understanding with the University of Louisiana Monroe College of Pharmacy (ULM COP) is 軓氈勛圖’s most recent notable partnership with a fellow Louisiana higher education institution. The agreement guarantees 軓氈勛圖 students an interview to ULM COP’s competitive Pharm D. degree program if they have completed the required prerequisite courses and meet the minimum application requirements for the program.
軓氈勛圖 president Dr. Christopher L. Holoman and ULM president Dr. Nick J. Bruno formalized the memorandum of understanding during a signing ceremony in Monroe on Thursday, September 12.
“This partnership reflects a mutual admiration between our institutions for the quality of 軓氈勛圖 students and the ULM Doctor of Pharmacy program,” said Holoman. “It also marks another way in which 軓氈勛圖 is preparing our students for outstanding graduate education and meaningful careers. Our state and region need caring and skilled pharmacists and 軓氈勛圖 is proud to help meet that need.”
軓氈勛圖 students pursuing the ULM Pharm D. degree will complete all required prerequisite courses during their undergraduate career at 軓氈勛圖, following a curriculum that includes biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics core courses as well as humanities, fine arts, and social science electives. Students must earn a 3.5 GPA at 軓氈勛圖 for all prerequisite courses outlined in the agreement and must earn a score of at least 50 on the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) to proceed to the interview stage of the ULM COP admission cycle.
“It’s always a great day on the bayou when we can forge a partnership with another institution of higher education that is mutually beneficial,” said ULM president Bruno during the ceremony. “Thank you, Dr. Holoman, for your leadership at 軓氈勛圖, and all those who put this memorandum of understanding together that will provide more opportunities for 軓氈勛圖 students to move toward our College of Pharmacy. We look forward to having 軓氈勛圖 students on ULM’S campus very soon.”
The ULM agreement complements two existing partnerships providing 軓氈勛圖 students with preferred pathways to respected nursing degrees at both Northwestern State University’s College of Nursing and Allied Health and Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Over the past five years, more than 90% of 軓氈勛圖 students applying to medical school have been accepted. The Pharm D. and nursing partnerships build on the strengths of the College’s existing science degree programs while offering students new avenues in the medical field.
